Are you trying your best to live an eco-friendly life? If you're looking for a heating system that will keep you snug throughout the winter months without damaging the environment, then wood burners is just the thing for you.

Ever since I watched the documentary "The Inconvenient Truth", I've tried my best to live sustainably one step at a time. So, when my husband and I built our new home, we were bent on making it earth-friendly.

One of the many challenges we faces was getting a heating system. Because we live in a climate where winters are quite harsh, we knew that heating would take add a lot to our energy bill. We were worried not only of the effect of this on our wallets, but on the environment as well.

That was when one of our friends told us about wood burners. In a nutshell, these burners use wood for fuel, instead of the usual gas or oil. Because wood in renewable and does not emit harmful carbon dioxide, it is earth-friendly. Plus, it's dirt cheap as well.

There are two kinds of wood burners: indoor and outdoor. Outdoor burners are kept outside your home, a safe 500 feet or so away from your house. Indoor burners are kept inside. Both are more eco-friendly than other heating systems that use fossil fuels for heat.

What I love best about wood furnaces is that it makes me less dependent on energy commodities. No more paying for expensive imported oil! Plus, our energy consumption was cut in half.

So, if you're looking for a green heating system, wood burners are the way to go.
